Connected Health combines state-of-the-art technologies, tools, methodologies, and analytics to create a new health management model by connecting people and actionable information in a health care system that gathers, links, interprets, and consolidates information from various sources. Faster, more accurate communication between GPs, hospitals, allied healthcare, and other stakeholders means that clinicians can make contextual decisions and communicate health and treatment options to patients. CH creates an environment where patients are treated in the best location by the best practitioner using the most relevant and efficient methods saving money and lives while ensuring a better quality of life during and post-treatment.
CHESS lead principal investigator, Professor Brian Caulfield, University College Dublin, Ireland, outlines the need for CHESS:
“Despite a clear need articulated repeatedly at national and international levels and the evident promise of CH solutions, implementation of end-to-end CH solutions in everyday management of health is not widespread across Europe. CHESS will work to better understand and address some of these challenges through 15 networked research projects.”
Connected health puts the correct information in the correct hands at the correct time allowing patients, clinicians, and planners to make better decisions.
